Bout me...You and Me Kid

My name is Kristi. I'm a mom, doing the parenting thing by myself. I have a wonderful kid. I call him Bear. No, it's not his real name, but it stuck.

I dabble in web design, but I've been a hairstylist and it's been my career for 22 years. Can I be that old? Yes, I had my son right after I turned 39. He turned one and I turned 40 the same year. It makes is easy for me to remember how old I'm going to be when he grows up...poor little guy!

I began this site in 2005. I fell off the earth for awhile, trying to get my bearings with this thing they call motherhood. I'm still not right on, but I'm getting there.

Going through pregnancy was difficult alone. I shouldn't say "alone" because I was surrounded by loving friends and family. I highly recommend having a support group, cause it can really suck at times - but it was also one of the most cherished periods of my life.

Nowadays, I'm parenting my son without his father's involvement. I'm what I call a "Single Only Active Parent" or a "SOAP". I am a single parent - and I'm the only parent. This presents some different challenges for both of us. But it also has it's advantages. You'll learn about those here and on my blog. We live a good life - sometimes filled with alot of craziness. but most important - love and happiness!

I feel somewhat like an explorer of the cultural variety. I always knew I'd live life on my own terms. Pirates were explorers and lived life on their own terms, did they not? I've always wanted to be a pirate...arrrrrrrrr...Thanks for visiting!
